About the Poem: THE RAVEN is perhaps Edgar Allan Poe’s most well-known poem. It tells the story of a lover mourning the loss of his true love, when he is suddenly visited by a talking raven who speaks only one word: “Nevermore.” It was first published with intricate woodcut illustrations by Gustave Doré, who died before its publication.
